Athletes Prepare for Journey to NAIG Games in Denver Colorado Winnipeg - The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) will be holding a Pep Rally this evening to honour the Metis Athletes of Team Manitoba who will be representing their People at the upcoming 2006 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) in Denver Colorado.

“Kudos to the athletes who are representing the Metis Nation in Denver Colorado,” said Vice President Ron Chartrand. “I know they and their coaches have worked hard. Their toils will bear fruit.”

Last week the MMF announced immediate financial support of $600 per Manitoba Metis athlete selected to represent the Metis Nation and Team Manitoba in the upcoming 2006 NAIG Games in Denver, Colorado. These funds will cover necessary travel, meal, and accommodation costs for their trip.

“For years our athletes have focused their energies to compete in these games. Their training and dedication to their ideals is exemplary,” said MMF President Chartrand. “Tonight we celebrate and honour our athletes. We are pleased to be able to walk alongside them in their journey towards success.”
