Inauguration Ceremony

WINNIPEG- The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) recently held a general election to elect a President, seven regional Vice Presidents and Board of Directors to represent the Metis Nation in Manitoba. An Inauguration Ceremony will be held tonight (Monday, July 26th) in Winnipeg to introduce and formally induct the newly-elected Metis Government.

 

The Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, the Honourable Philip S. Lee, will attend the inauguration as witness to the ceremony as they are sworn in under the official Oath of Office.

 

MMF President David Chartrand says he is honoured to enter into his unprecedented fifth term. "The voice of the Metis Nation was clearly and democratically heard in this election.  The Metis Citizens of our province have provided a very strong mandate to continue the fight for recognition and the battle for services to our people.  Your Metis Government will work hard to ensure that your voice is heard." President Chartrand continued, "I know that the team you have chosen to lead over the next four years is committed and worthy of your trust."
