The Métis Economic Development Organization (MEDO) is a business investment and management firm, and proud affiliate of the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), that works to make key business investment decisions based on generating profit and building capacity for the long-term sustainability of the Red River Métis within Manitoba.

The Métis Economic Development Organization (MEDO) seeks to fill one full-time Finance Officer position located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Monitor and process accounts payable/receivable, bank and account reconciliations, financial claims, and allowances;
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports;
  • Ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner and receivables are collected promptly;
  • Record cash receipts and assist with bank deposits;
  • Prepare and monitor purchase orders, maintain files and petty cash;
  • Setup and maintain general ledger accounts and statements;
  • Perform administrative duties such as preparing documents, agenda, meeting minutes and kits, schedule appointments, meetings, travel arrangements;
  • Photocopy and organize documents for distribution, mailing, filing, and faxing;
  • Order office supplies and allocate expenses as per budget for review.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a Finance Officer or similar position;
  • Training in Sage and QuickBooks or similar accounting program, Square, and Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles;
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records;
  • Excellent mathematical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain filing systems and maintain confidential records and files;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Knowledge of Métis culture and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
