The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Senior Financial Analyst position within our Finance Department located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for evaluating and assisting the MMF with its financial plans and economic modeling. The Senior Financial Analyst is also responsible for overseeing account reconciliation, developing financial strategies in coordination with the senior leadership team in Finance, analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and making recommendations for improvement.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Perform financial forecasting, reporting and operational metrics tracking;
  • Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support;
  • Report on financial performance and prepare for regular leadership reviews;
  • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements;
  • Assist in formulating the MMF's financial future direction and supporting tactical initiatives;
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting;
  • Coordinate with the Chief Administrative Officer and the senior finance leadership team on long-term financial planning;
  • Develop performance measures that support the MMF's strategic direction.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field. Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance is an asset;
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation;
  • Five years' experience analyzing financial data and forecasting;
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization or government is a strong asset;
  • Experience working with the executive team and submitting recommendations;
  • In-depth knowledge of financial laws and risk management practices
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
