MMF celebrates the Grand Opening of our Lake Manitoba Resort in St. Laurent

July 11, 2024

St. Laurent, MB, in the National Homeland of the Red River Métis - Today, the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), the National Government of the Red River Métis, joined by community members and representatives of the Rural Municipality of St. Laurent, held its Grand Opening event for Lake Manitoba Resort.

The grand opening celebrated Lake Manitoba Resort and its special features, including a new Clubhouse restaurant, a new Pro Shop, and a redeveloped 9-hole golf course. The resort will also host a 180-site campground, with each site offering direct sewer and water hookup for RV campers, in large lots surrounded by greenspace.

A highlight of the event was the gathering at the Clubhouse restaurant, which seats 158 - 78 indoor and 80 outdoor, offering exceptional service and delectable Indigenous inspired cuisine like candied pickerel bites and three sisters salad. Showcased was the restaurant's private dining room that seats 20, perfect for small family gatherings and corporate events.

"Today is an exciting day for the Manitoba Métis Federation as we celebrate the Grand Opening of Lake Manitoba Resort," said David Chartrand, President of the MMF. "The Resort and what it offers for visitors and guests reflects the pride we take in offering true Red River Métis hospitality."

The new fully outfitted Pro Shop was also a highlight of the event. The Pro Shop serves as the starting point for golfers who come to play on the redeveloped golf-course, which includes a new irrigation system, new greens and aprons, re-established tee boxes, and well-designed fairways.

"After substantial redevelopment and $3.2 million invested in the Clubhouse, Pro Shop and golf course, we have created an incredible experience here in St. Laurent," said President Chartrand. "The MMF, through Lake Manitoba Resort and other initiatives like our child care centre and greenhouse, continues to drive economic development in the region, including creating 10 full-time year-round and up to 20 seasonal positions through Resort operations."

Continued development at Lake Manitoba Resort includes a 180-site campground, opening in two phases. As mentioned, all sites will offer water, wastewater, and electrical hook ups. The campground will be unique in Manitoba in that wastewater services are tied into an onsite system removing the need for individual site holding tanks and removal.

Now available for Phase One, which offers 75 seasonal sites for lease, with plans for campers to set-up later this year in preparation for a full camping season in 2025. The campground will also feature four tiny homes for short term-rentals, for families, friends, and golfers who would like to stay and play. Given the demand for these lots in advance of their availability, we expect them to go fast, so book yours today by calling 204-646-2100.

Lake Manitoba Resort is an Affiliate company of the MMF through its business development arm, Métis Economic Development Organization. The offerings of Lake Manitoba Resort add new and exciting tourism and hospitality amenities to the village of St. Laurent, the region and Manitoba more broadly.
