Phase 1
In 2024, the MMF reviewed SaskPowers siting choice of their proposed Small Modular Reactor (SMR) in southern Saskatchewan, within the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. SaskPower is exploring the development of nuclear power in Saskatchewan through SMR technology in an effort to address climate goals and a rising demand for power in the province. Phase 2
In 2024, the MMF engaged Red River Métis Citizens on the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) siting choices of both candidate sites within the Souris River System near Estevan Saskatchewan. The Boundary Site located along the Boundary Dam Reservoir and the Rafferty Site located along the Rafferty Reservoir.
